This came to light when one of the handbags somehow made it's way to Italy, to Prada to be repaired. Prada claimed it a fake. As a result of a lawsuit filed against Sam's Club any customers who bought any Prada product from Sam's club between 2002 an 2006 may be eligible for a refund.

The response from Sam's was interesting to say the least. Apparently in a letter to their customers Sam's Club said about the Prada handbags "They said they are real, but they are not authentic." HUH??

To Buy or Not to Buy

So, here are some questions to ask yourself. "Why do I want to risk spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars and getting a potentially fake handbag?" Good question. Here's the next question "If fake designer handbags can fool so-called handbag "experts", doesn't it make sense that no one else would know, especially me?" Then the next logical question would be "Why would I want to take any risk when for hundreds I can get a comparable handbag?"

Don't think for one minute you're buying a guaranteed authentic designer handbag unless you're shopping at a department store like Nordstrom or Bloomingdales or buying directly from the designers website or outlet.

The "R" on an authentic Prada logo has a "curved" right leg. The letters on the metal logo plate are slightly raised. Authentic Prada handbags are lined with their signature fabric that is either black or a coordinating color. This signature fabric has the word Prada and a symbol that looks like a sideways "S" woven throughout.

Our logo looks EXACTLY like the original and the lettering has a raised feeling. The signature fabric also looks EXACTLY the same. Here's are pics of the replica handbag:

The hardware on authentic Prada handbags is marked with the wordPrada very clearly. All Prada zippers are marked by the manufacturer. There may be several different zipper marks - Lampo (with & without the lightning bolt), IPI, Opti, riri, ykk. Also, the feet on the bottom of the handbag will be marked Prada.

The handle hardware on our knock-off bag clearly marked Prada. (no markings on the buckle hardware on the handbag). The zippers are not marked. The feet of the handbag are clearly marked Prada.

We thought the most obvious thing to look for was how the handbag was made. We actually were impressed by the workmanship of this handbag. The stitching is even and the fabric of this bag is sturdy. The attention to detail on the inside of the bag is impressive. Again, the leather is well stitched, no strings or pulls. This handbag has a zipper compartment on one side and a side compartment with cell phone pocket on the other. The lining fits beautifully inside the handbag with no pulling or puckering.

The bottom line is that this is a very good quality handbag for $185. And, we all agreed that since none of us has ever seen an authentic Prada Canvas and Tan Leather Satchel we would never know the difference.
