Women's Winter Coats

Not every woman loves winter. It can be difficult to find fashionable women's outerwear. What would you rather be, fashionable or warm? We want to be both, and we've found some ways that we can have fashion and comfort at the same time.

As with most fashion choices, classic styles with long out last anything trendy. We'd suggest that you purchase at least one classic style coat before you go all out for trendy. A well chosen classic coat can last you for many, many years.

Choose a women's wool coat in a classic style, either single or double breasted. For plus size women single breasted coats can give more of an illusion of slimness. The best length for a wool coat would be just below the knee. A coat length that's just above the knee, or just below the knee is very versatile. If you buy a full length winter coait can be a nuisence around your legs when you drive.

Choose classic colors of navy, camel, red or black. A classis women's wool coat is a must to have in your closet, especially if an occasion comes up in the winter where you don't want to wear your down winter jacket.

You could also choose a classically styled women's leather coat. You'll find them in the same styles as wool coats, single and double breasted, pea coat, fitted jacket, long coat, 3/4 length. Again, choose a classic color. Consider this, if you purchase an expensive leather jacket that's a classic style the number of years of service you'll get from it will far outweigh the initial cost.

This is one coat that we really loved. It's from Calvin Klein. It's the Angora Blend Boyfriend Coat. Classic in style, and classic in color. At $278 a good buy that you'll wear for years to come.

Here's another offering from Calvin Klein. We like this belted Angora and Wool coat. A white coat certainly isn't for the faint of heart.

Yes, we'd consider red a classic color. This coat is the Fleurette Pickstitch Peacoat and it's a showstopper. Not cheap, it's around $600, but again, it's a classic style you'll wear year after year.

Here's another classic coat for you to consider. It's a BOSS Black Belted Wool Coat. Imagine it with a brilliant red or peacock blue pashmina scarf.

Here's a great money saving fashion tip: Buy at the end of the season!

About seven years ago while browsing in Talbots in early spring I found the perfect classic black wool coat, at half price!! It was long coat, but I took it to the tailor and had it shortened to just below the knee. It's perfect. If you don't have the money to buy before the season, remember you can always find fabulous bargains end of season.
